Every day, the sun showers the earth with huge amounts of energy that’s free for the taking, so why not embrace the opportunity while homeowner incentive programs are so strong? If you’ve been considering solar, 2022 could really be your year.
There are several exciting solar incentives for Colorado in 2022. At CAM Solar, we’ve completed hundreds of solar projects in Colorado, and we’re here to make your solar ambitions a reality!
Put the Colorado Sunshine to Good Use! Why It's Smart to Go Solar
There are a number of benefits of solar, including:
Enjoy lower monthly energy costs
Photovoltaic (PV) panels from solar providers near you allow you to eliminate rising monthly energy bills and lock in low monthly electricity payments. Monthly savings over the lifetime of your system could add up to cover the cost of your solar installation completely!
Decrease your carbon footprint
With a solar system, you can breathe easy. Solar panel installation offsets your carbon emissions and allows you to leave fossil fuels behind, improving the quality of the air you breathe and the health of your local environment, while helping cut your contributions to climate change.
Boost the value of your Home
Considering a move? Homes with photovoltaic systems sell faster than homes without them, and buyers know the value of solar—they’re often willing to pay more for a home with a solar system than a comparable home without one.
Kiss outages goodbye with a solar battery
You can leave the days of electricity outages, keeping a generator running all night, and worrying about your family’s safety and comfort behind with a new solar system combined with a solar battery like the Tesla Powerwall or the Enphase Encharge.
Solar battery storage systems conserve any excess energy your photovoltaic system produces to use at night and during power outages, further decreasing your utility bills and giving you peace of mind year-round.
Colorado 2022 Solar Tax Credits and Incentives
The cost of solar panels has dropped substantially over the past five years. This, combined with solar rebates and other incentives, makes 2022 a fantastic year to make the switch to solar with help from CAM Solar, a solar installer near you. Colorado solar tax credits and rebates include:
Colorado Springs Utilities Renewable Energy Rebates
Colorado Springs Utilities are offering $0.10 per watt for new solar installations for up to 40% of total system cost—a major incentive!
Fort Collins Utilities Solar Rebates
Fort Collins Utilities customers may be eligible for net metering and $1,000 toward their new solar system installation.
Xcel Energy Solar*Rewards® Program
This is a PBI (performance-based incentive) where solar customers can earn $0.0375 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for systems ranging in size from 25.01 kW to 500 kW. Those who qualify may also be eligible for net metering—an added bonus!
The Federal Solar Tax Credit for 2022
The solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC) is an impressive federal incentive for homeowners to take advantage of across the country. Even better, it was scheduled to expire at the end of 2021, but the deadline has been extended to allow homeowners to earn a 26% tax credit on their solar installation costs through the end of 2022! But don’t dawdle—the incentive will decrease to only 22% in 2023, and be eliminated entirely for residential systems in 2024, unless it is extended once again.
By going solar and qualifying for the federal solar tax credit for solar panels in 2022, you can enjoy solar energy with your full incentive, so we recommend getting started ASAP to qualify for the highest possible solar panel federal tax credit in 2022.
